The Anatomy of the Perfect Master Bedroom

By January 24, 2019 No Comments

We’ve all dreamt of the perfect place to go for peace and quiet after a long hard day of being an adult.  This special space in a home recharges our soul for a fresh start at life- ready to rock a new day!  A recent project brought us a blank canvas  – a well-lit, generously sized, neutral master bedroom that was simply feeling a little too bland.

Take a peek at the details we added :

~Ceiling molding for visual interest and a feeling of openness in the room

~A wonderful neutral blue accent color on the ceiling (remember, the ceiling is the 5th wall – don’t ignore it!)

~A pendant light as a source of soft light & some eye candy

~Custom sheer drapery to soften the harsh lines of the plantation shutters

~Layers of added texture with the rug, upholstered accent furniture, and linens

Originally the clients had two separate dressers- making the wall feel crowded.   However, downsizing to one dresser was a storage concern.  Our solution?… an extra-long dresser; custom-made, and allowing for another column of drawers.  Huge props to Millbrook Furniture for this gorgeous dresser.

Also, let’s admit that a TV is often a necessity in a bedroom.  Fortunately, Samsung has realized that we don’t always want this to be obvious.  So they invented the Frame TV, which cleverly disguises the television as a piece of art.

So what is the anatomy of a perfect master bedroom? It is in the details.  For this project we brought a touch of color, provided various textures in the furniture and accessories, played with proportions, and added layers.   All of which brought this fantastic room to its full potential.

We will be sharing more of this home soon!  Come back to see a stunning entry way and a former play room that we converted into a dinning room.
